STAFF: 5/5 STARS

The African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Welcome drinks, smiles, professionalism, and a great source for local information. All staff members were amazing! Special acknowledgments go to Pretty and Mr. D!!! Also, a special shout-out to the lady who delivered the birthday gift to our room. Sorry, we never exchanged names! You know who you are! 😊 Staff makes your hotel; somehow, The African Pride got it right with their entire team.

HOTEL ROOM: 4/5 STARS

HOTEL ROOM REVIEWED

Penthouse

We opted for the Penthouse during our stay – a 1-bedroom apartment with a living room, kitchenette, a studio/workspace, a terrace, and a bedroom with a walk-in closet. The large bathroom includes both an indoor and outdoor shower, as well as a bath tab. The amenities cover all your needs, and the bed is incredibly comfyWhile the room carries a touch of vintage charm, it’s definitely time to get rid of things like the DVD player which make the room look outdated… trust me, no one will miss it! The Penthouse is without doubt the most stunning room option, but you don’t need to stay there to appreciate the African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel. All rooms at the hotel are spacious and beautifully appointed.

The culinary experience is diverse, with two exceptional restaurants – Sebule Restaurant and Aduna Bistro (where you can eat breakfast) – providing options ranging from buffets to à la carte dining. Additionally, the hotel offers a delightful poolside bar with refreshing cocktails and a colonial-style library for a charming, relaxed ambiance.

OVERALL: 4.75/5 STARS

I highly recommend the African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and convenient stay in Johannesburg. You will surely enjoy your stay while you visit the city!

A COUPLE OF THINGS TO KNOW:

Power issues plague the entire country. Places like the Melrose Arch Hotel have backup generators to assist with making your experience more enjoyable. When you have temporary blackouts, it is because the generator is taking over to maintain power to the entire building. Anyone who blames the hotel for power issues in their reviews should be more aware of the country they are visiting.

Melrose is a gated community very close to the center of JoBerg. It is completely safe and walk-friendly. Security is always around to ensure this. Truthfully speaking, though amazing, Melrose is not a great representation of South African culture. We recommend visiting neighboring areas that will give you a taste of local foods and culture. Ask for Mr. Dee, he’ll direct you in the right direction as well as ensure you have a memorable experience.
