China’s history is unlike many others, being amongst one of the oldest of all the major world civilizations. Before there were communists and nationalists, there were Dynasties that date centuries back BCE (in comparison, the US is only 246 years old, while China is well over 4000 years old). Today, it is the world’s most populous country, with India following closely behind and gaining momentum.
When it comes to travel, China has something for everyone, from breathtaking landscapes, many man-made treasures, and architectural marvels to a diverse take on delicious cuisines. However, what often goes unnoticed is the country’s diversity. China is home to more than 55 ethnic groups, each with its own unique culture and traditions. With so much variety under one umbrella, it would take a lifetime to fully experience all the different regions and their respective cultures.
Thinking about exploring this country might be intimidating at first, as it is not one of the most commonly visited countries by Westerners. Still, with some extra planning and research, it can be one of the most fascinating trips you will ever take in your entire life! We hope the collection of articles you will find on this page will inspire you to start putting together your itinerary. We only visited a small number of places in China compared to the many others we would like to experience, but we hope we will able to travel there again very soon to continue our journey.
