In this article, you’ll discover the 10 best things to do in New Orleans when it rains so that you can make the most of every moment, rain or shine. From world-class museums and cozy jazz clubs to unique culinary experiences, New Orleans’s indoor activities offer something for everyone. And if you’re visiting during the hot, humid summer months, these activities are also perfect for escaping the heat.

New Orleans Weather: What to Expect

New Orleans has a subtropical climate: warm, humid summers and mild winters. Rain is common year-round, but the wettest months are typically June through September, during hurricane season. Spring (March to May) and fall (October to November) are the best times to visit, with pleasant temperatures and fewer rain showers.

Tips for Visiting During Rainy Weather

• Pack a Light Rain Jacket or Umbrella: Sudden showers are common, so it’s best to be prepared.

• Wear Proper Footwear: You don’t want to walk around with wet feet, plus the streets can get slick, especially in the French Quarter.

• Check the Forecast: Plan your indoor activities around the heaviest rain.
